Mark Making Project

For this project, I recreated a photo of Natalie Portman using custom brushes. The brushes I used said "beautiful", "the oscars", "Black Swan", "israel", a jewish star, and her name in hebrew letters. To make these brushes, I typed them out in the fonts and sizes I wanted and selected them. After this I created them as custom brushes and painted over a photo of Natalie with them. To get the correct values, I posterized the photo first with 6 distinct values. To define each value, I used the color of each value. Additionally, I changed the sizes of the fonts as the values for lighter. For the background, I made the brushes very large to contrast the smaller fonts on the face. A challenge I faced during this project was making it visually pleasing and defining my values properly.
